DIY Whipped Lotion

I feel like it's my duty to share this recipe...my skin is so happy!  Thank you to my friend, Nina, for sharing this DIY Whipped Lotion recipe!  Since Mother Nature continues to drop her sparkly white stuff, my skin is craving hydration.  The more I learn and read labels, the more I'm inspired to make my own skin care products.  This recipe is so easy, it melts right into the skin, and I feel comfortable slathering this on my toddler too!

  • 1/3 Cup Shea Butter
  • 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/3 Cup Cocoa Butter
  • 1/3 Cup Almond Oil
  • 3 Drops Vitamin E Oil
  • 15 Drops of Essential Oil

Heat Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Almond Oil in double boiler (I use a glass bowl and set it in a little pot).  Heat until completely liquid.  Refrigerate the liquid oil until it turns solid (this can take an hour+).  Once solid (or at least not runny), then whip it good for at least 10min (I use the Kitchen Aid Mixer).  While whipping, add essential oils of your choice (Important to add essential oils after the oil mixture has cooled down).  While cleaning up, you can slather up too!  Makes enough to share with a friend!  Enjoy!
